The Fiord of Furore –  Fiordo di Furore is a small fjord in the village of Furore ,in Campania region, in the province of Salerno, in southern Italy.

The Fiord of Furore is one of the most picturesque and photographed places of the Amalfi Coast and is located below the state road 163, between the municipalities of Praiano and Conca dei Marini.South – Western Italy.

This small fjord is formed by an arm of the sea that advances between the gorges and has become one of the most beautiful and photographed places in the region.
Today the village of Furore , is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is part of the Club of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.

Access : Coordinates: 40.621389, 14.549444 / Furore is located on the Amalfi Coast. ,n Campania region, in the province of Salerno, in southern Italy. There is a bus stop right next to the bridge, on the way down to the fjord. Then just go down some stairs to the beach.

Highlights :

  • The beach is small but charming, a tongue of white pebbles of about 25 meters and dominated by the high bridge, an integral part of the state road, which joins the rocky walls of this corner of paradise.
  • According to legend, the devil arrived in Furore, where he was chased by the inhabitants of the town. To spite the latter, the devil decided to leave his manure at the entrance of the town, but he made a mistake and crouched in a field of nettles: due to the itching, the devil was forced to flee, while cursing angrily he pushed his foot firmly into the ground. From that angry gesture the fjord would have originated.
  • A strongly emblematic inscription appears on a city wall: “Here, in this place of the world that is not of this world, where every glance is already emotion and every thought is already a dream, here you can”
  • Among the steps of the village in 1948 Roberto Rossellini shot with Anna Magnani, the central episode of the film Love, the story of a shepherdess who, after becoming pregnant, is convinced she is giving birth to a divine being.
  • The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline in southern Italy overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Salerno.

Go next : Grotta dello Smeraldo , a cave, partly inundated by the sea and located in Conca dei Marini, Italy, on the Amalfi Coast.
