Cabo da Roca Lighthouse is a Portuguese lighthouse located on the cape of the same name,  ( Cabo da Roca or Cape Roca )   in the parish of Colares, Sintra Municipality, Lisbon District, Portugal.

The most westerly lighthouse on the European continent, it was commissioned by the Pombaline Permit of 1 February 1758. It was commissioned in 1772 and underwent major changes in the year 1843.

it is the third oldest lighthouse in Portugal. It is located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park about 12 km west of Sintra 2. The site is open and the lighthouse is visitable on Wednesday afternoon.

Access : Coordinates:38.782, -9.497333 / Cabo da Roca is 18km west from Sintra, 15km north from Cascais and 40km west of Lisbon / From Lisbon, the easiest way is to go in the Cascais direction on the A5 motorway (or the Marginal, if you don’t want to pay a toll) and take the N247 road north. / Bus 403 (Cascais Line – Sintra)
This bus leaves from the Cascais terminal (20 minutes to Cabo da Roca) and from Sintra station (35 minutes to Cabo da Roca). Before boarding, make sure you stop at Cabo da Roca, since not all buses on line 403 do so.

  •  Features : The lighthouse is at an altitude of 165 meters above sea level and has a height of 22 meters. Its light has a range of approximately 48 kilometers.

  •  viewpoint : From its viewpoint there is a spectacular view of the coast cut over the ocean In it we will also find a monolith where the exact coordinates of the cape are inscribed and next to which photography is required for tourists.There is also a cafe-restaurant where you can have a drink

Open to the public: Yes, every Wednesday from 2 pm to 5 pm / no entrance fee or parking charges at Cape Roca.
