Diamond Beach, is a black volcanic sand beach , where takes its name from chunks of pristine ice that look like giant uncut diamonds. It is located next to the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon on the south coast of Iceland, about six hours from the country’s capital, Reykjavik.

Diamond Beach is located in the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, which is filled with huge chunks of ice. The fact is that they are constantly breaking off from Breiðamerkurjökull, the exit glacier of Vatnajökull, which is the most ice cap in Europe. Pieces of this ice fall on the black sand and create a stunning effect.
Diamonds are pieces of icebergs of varying sizes ( large chunks of ice) that have a long way to go before they become diamonds on the diamond beach.
On the black beach, small and rather large fragments of icebergs are accumulated, thrown ashore by pulsating sea waves. The shiny shards of ice really look like giant diamonds
In recent years, it has become a very popular place for marriage proposals, as well as a coveted location for Instagram users.
