Jūrmala is a resort town on the Gulf of Riga and is located 15 kilometers west of Riga ,the capital, of Latvia.
The modern city was formed from a series of resort ( fishing ) villages, united over time. It occupies the territory of the Riga seaside, which stretches 32 km long and 3 km wide between the Gulf of Riga and the Lielupe River.
The most famous resort areas of Jurmala are Bulduri, Dzintari, Majori, Dubulti, Pumpuri and Melluzi. Dzintari is considered an elite area; there is a famous concert hall here, which hosts international festivals and performances by famous artists.
There are many hotels and guesthouses in the city that offer the widest selection of tastes. There are swimming pools , tennis courts and yacht clubs. Jūrmala offers various cultural, recreational and sports activities.
