Luceram is a village in southeastern France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Alpes-Maritimes department, Nice district.

The oldest part of the village was built around the 13th century, on a rocky outcrop called the Baous. Many narrow, stepped streets meander from Place Adrien Barralis to the foot of the split-throat tower, for the upper part, and Rue du Docteur Moriez crosses the lower part.
In addition to the main settlement at 650 m, the municipal boundary also includes the hamlets of Peïra-Cava, Saint-Laurent, Les Mounts, Les Mortissons, Garibert and Tournet. The village has many ecclesiastical and medieval monuments, as well as altarpieces by Ludovico Brea.

Access : Coordinates: 43.8833, 7.3614 / The municipality is located at a distance about 680 km southeast of Paris, 175 km east of Marseille, 22 km north of Nice.

Highlights :

  • Lucéram has the village of Peïra-Cava, the first winter sports resort in the department created on the initiative of Victor de Cessole in 1909, which is accessed by the Col Saint-Roch and the Col de l’Orme.
  • The village was protected by an enclosure of which several elements can still be seen, such as the open round tower at the top of the village.
  • On the main square of Luceram – Place Adrien Barralis, you can see the largest Christmas nativity scene and 200 others that were donated by city residents.
  • Enceinte de Lucéram castle ruins / Chapel Saint-Grat, built 1480-1485 and painted by the Italian painter Giovanni Baleison.
  • The Sainte-Marguerite church: it stands on a terrace overlooking Lucéram , on the right, the sections of crenellated walls and the tower, curiously split, of the fortified enclosure.Inside there are five altarpieces by the Nice painter Ludovico Brea.
Several chapels exist on the territory of the commune, chapel of Penitents inside the village, like the Saint-Pierre chapel or the Saint-Jean chapel, chapels protecting the village or the merchants on the paths which gave access to it, like the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Coeur chapels and the Saint-Grat chapel. Some of these chapels have been classified or listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Monuments.
