The medieval bridge of La Jaya, over the Cares River, Located within the Picos de Europa mountain range, in the province and autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain.
Puente de la Jaya is a wonderful medieval bridge built to cross the River Cares.There is no certainty of the date of its construction, although a first approximation would date it, at the latest, to the Visigoth period, since there is a popular tradition that it served as a passageway for Don Pelayo in the year 718 AD.
The bridge is built of limestone extracted from the mountains that surround it, with a characteristic grayish color that makes it blend perfectly with the surrounding landscape, thus making it appear to come out of the rock itself on the left bank of the river.
Los Picos de Europa National Park not only has challenging trails, it also has an Majestic landscapes. The place is a beauty with crystal clear waters and a wonderful pool.
The bridge can be reached on foot from the small hiking trail that starts from Bulnes. You can go up to Bul es on foot or on the funicular that leaves from Pocebos.

- La Jaya Bridge is located in the vicinity of Poncebos and marks the beginning of the Texu Canal that ascends to the town of Bulnes. Nearby is also the well-known Ruta del Cares.
