The black sandy beach of Solheimasandur in the south of Iceland, not far from Vik i Myrdal’s, is less than 160 kilometers from Reyjkavik, which should take about two hours depending on the weather conditions.

There is the wreckage of a US military machine, which crashed there in November 1973 for unknown reasons. The crew was able to save themselves, but since then lies, with enclosing holes oversewn metal framework in the Spent environment. Many parts of the aircraft are missing, but even there is no official explanation.  If you have ever seen pictures of Iceland, then you will certainly have come to this beach. Because he is known that there is an airplane wreck. A very popular spot, but only accessible on foot in the last few kilometers.

The Solheimasandur Plane Wreck is popular with tourists. Especially photographers and Instagrammers. It is of course also a bit of a surrealistic image, such a plane wreck in the middle of nowhere, on such a black beach.
