Zum See is a 350 year old hamlet in the canton of Valais,( Valais is situated in the southwestern part of the Switzerland.) at the foot of the world-famous majestic Matterhorn.
Although the place is called “Zum See”, there was never a lake here. In the local language, “zem lake” has two different meanings. On the one hand, it denotes standing water, but also in general a hamlet with shelter for people and cattle.
Zum See” is located ,at an altitude of 1,760 m in the lowest part of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise ski area between Furi and above Zermatt , in an intimate atmosphere – with a view of the Matterhorn and the magnificent mountains of Zermatt.
The car-free cozy hamlet with traditional Valais chalets of Zermatt can be reached by train, taxi or helicopter or by foot. The hamlet includes a chapel and a gastronomic restaurant.
Access : Coordinates: 46.006389, 7.731944 / public parking situated in the train station that links Zermatt by train within 12 minutes every 20 minutes.

- In earlier centuries, a mule track led through the hamlet of Zum See, connecting Switzerland with Italy and leading over the Theodul Pass. The densely packed buildings are authentic and represent centuries of history.
